Absolutely amazing photos!!! I was aslo backpacking in some of those places last year and I have to say that despite the huge popularity of Uluru, 12 Apostels and other well known landmarks, it was the prestine wilderness of Tasmania that amazed me the most. Yoyr photos bring out the best of this rough and beautiful scenery. I'm looking forward to see some more of your work. Good luck! Meelis Luiks aussie@hot.ee www.hot.ee/aussie/gallery

Your site is a great "teaser" for my first walking trip in Tassie booked for Feb 2001. Me and one other are in the throws of deciding which 7-10 day walk to do. Have you any suggestions? I'm living on the other side of the globe, in the Netherlands. A wealthy, but boring country, landscape wise. Although some Dutch photographers made some nice pictures of the (stamp sized) parcels of "nature" ( barb wire surrounded pieces of forest ), it doesn't compare with what I saw on your site. I'm eh... flabbergasted (do you say that in Tasmania?) astonishing beautiful pictures. I comfort myself a little that you made them with very expensive equipment. The pictures do what you probably intended them to do: I desperately want to come... Peter Gooijer Callantsoog The Netherlands

Hilsen fra de Nordlige latituder! I'll recognise the same fantastic light as here in the very north. But otherwise the landscape is beautiful combination of both north and some nearly tropical characteristics. Fine pictures of a fine landscape! If I ever gonna be a rich man, I'll take a journey to the East Coast! Happened to come here via Photonet and Paul Roark. Greetings from Finland, Jan Jan Eerala, www.itameri.com

Hi Geoff, I'm a Tasmanian who's just clocked up ten years away from the island - it's still home in a magical kind of way. I immediately went to your East Coast section and there was my Maria Island. I'd lived five and a half years of my life, waking up to the most incredible views of Maria from Stapleton Beach. It's every contour is etched in my memory and ,many nights I walked the sands of Stapleton while contemplating the vastness of a world that was linked by the water that lapped its shores and the sands which drifted in from worlds unknown. You took me back there tonight with your photography - I could almost smell and taste and touch. I left the East Coast to visit those worlds - but always there is something of maria which draws me back. It beckons me to sit on sand sopposite - to ponder again the waters which link this planet. So thank you Geoff, for Maria again tonight. Sue

Just happened across your site whilst trying to find pictures of a grey poplar tree. I think your photographs are wonderful! I was a freelance illustrator before I had my children but useless at photography. I had a digital camera for my birthday earlier this year and am improving!!But seeing pix like yours only goes to show that it is a true talent to be able to frame an image through a lens. Thankyou. Hi Geoff, I trained many years ago as a photographer and making images was my first hobby and joy during my teens and twenties. I have really enjoyed viewing your lovely landscape images they are extremely beautful and you have really managed to capture the subtle moods of many of these places. I especially liked the larger format image quality in some of the images which are well suited to this approach for obvious reasons. Hello there from the Canadian Rockies at Golden, BC. My daughter, who recently emigrated to Tasmania with her husband a Tazzie devil himself, mentioned in her latest update being to The Walls of Jerusalem National Park (here where we live we are surrounded by 5 National parks and several Provincial parks)so I most naturally wanted to check your park out. I found your awesome photography site and now have a vivid sense of how beautiful it is there and I know full well that the challenge is always to capture the intensity, the reality of "place." I think you must have done an excellent job at that. I've bookmarked your site and will in all likelihood be linking to it on a personal Australia page. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us. Hi there Geoff, After discovering your contribution to capturing on film, one of the most amazing places on earth, I just had to let you know how proud I am that someone like yourself is carring on the legacy of such amazing photographers as Peter Dombrovski and his pioneering teacher who's name escapes me at the moment. It is comforting to know that there are people still out there that are passionate about protecting and preserving these extremely fragile World Heritage areas. With your absoloutely beautiful images,(that bring a lump in my throat and a tear to my eye) I hope that people will come to see how important it is to stopping the government from destroying these areas like they have so many others. Please keep up this vital work

Dear Geoff, I've spent many rewarding hours viewing your superb photographs. I just love your work & am so grateful to be able to actually see it online. I would buy many of your photographs had I the money & the space to hang them. This compensates somewhat. I am a very amateur nature photographer but find the info. about your cameras & lenses very useful, as well as seeing your work. Have you published a book of your work? This I could afford - & be able to accomodate in my small flat! If you have, could you let me know? If not, how about it? Hi Geoff, My name is, well, Geoff Murray! I live in Prince Edward Island, Canada and I've known about you ever since I tried to register the domain: www.geoffmurray.com. I thought I would drop a line and say hello and compliment you on your work. I've examined much of your online photography and I enjoy it immensely. I am a web developer and I dabble in digital photography, mostly product shots for e-commerce websites. Well just wanted to say hi and let you know you're moderately famous (within my group of friends anyway!)here on P.E.I. If you ever need any web work done check me out! I've done sites for people out of country before! Cheers, Geoff Murray PS: I have a little site (very old and not my best work) you can check out at www.geoffmurray.ca. Closest domain I could find!

Katie - lastarrlet@hotmail.com WOW. I started searching the internet for a far view of a drawable-landscape for this art class I'm taking. I eventually came across your pictures and was blown away! I'm sure you don't need another 'some one' to tell you how amazing your photos are, but...they are just breath taking. So beautiful. I don't know how some one can look at these majestic places in the world and say that God doesn't exist.

Lastarrlet@hotmail.com WOW. I came on the internet to search for a far-view photo of a drawable landscape that I need for my art class. I eventually came across your photos and was stunned. They are just so beautiful...amazing. I love that there are places in this world that are still uninhabited and pure. How can anyone look at the world's most majestic scenes like these and believe that God doesn't exist..

Dear Geoff I am a photographer currently studying in Tasmania. I have an assignment due for one of my classes and I reckon your landscape work is absolutely fantastic I can't believe how much you've done. As you are a contemporary photographer would you mind sending some more information about yourself and these trips around Australia and America, and what were your inspirations and interests with your photographs? I discovered your site via a link from Bjorn Roslett's site. I'm going to be in Tasmania from mid-Feb through March 10, as a part of my trip to Australia. I would love to get together to talk Tassie and photos. (I've made perhaps 12 trips to Australia already ...) George Flanagin george@bright-crayon.com

I looked up your site because I am also the owner of a ER-1. I think it is nothing short of astonishing that you could take so many remarkable pictures in such a short time. You are clearly a gifted photographer. As for me, at age 71 I have moved on to digital and the wonders of Photoshop. I want to sell my ER-1 outfit (same as yours, plus two 6x9 backs and Polaroid back, Universal Zoom Finder, angle viewer) but don't know how to go about it. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Ron Lightbourn

Stunning and "eye-poppin" color. Wonderful compostions that show a love and respect for the beauty of nature. A glorious, photographic synergy of art and technical competence. Many of these photos have a big "Wow" factor. Great job! These set a high standard for us photographers to shoot for, atleast it does for me. Paul Searls, Rockford, IL, USA, prsearls@insightbb.com

G'day geoff, My name is Matthew Talbot and also love to bits our island home, and I would like to complement you on one of the most refreshing web sites that I have ever visited. I really appreciate you making all these images available for all to see and savor, many from very hard to access areas and very wild terrain, a real breath of fresh air (pardon the pun). Keep up the good work, I hope your images allow present and future generations to fully understand the value and fine balance of mother nature herself. Better late than never! Cheers and thanks Matthew Talbot torqueman@rascal.com.au

Wow! Your images of the Tasmanian Peninsular are not less than incredible. These are the nicest images of the area I have seen behind those of the greats Trauchanis and Dombrovskis. You easily beat Rankin, Parish and a whole host of others who have tried to capture the beauty of the region.
